"Northern Star" was the second single to be released from the album of the same name on 22nd November 1999, just seven weeks after "Goin' Down". The promotion for this single was much the same as "Goin' Down", and just like its predecessor, "Northern Star" had a very simple video, and was shockingly a success. The single was much more successful than "Goin' Down", with 7 weeks in the Top 40, compared to "Goin' Down" which had 3. Sales were much higher, and "Northern Star" sold a massive 202,600 copies in the UK, being the 98th best seller of 1999.
