Melanie C - Goin' Down

"Goin' Down" was Melanie C's first single from her first solo album, "Northern Star". The single was slammed by critics as Melanie unveiled a drastic image change, as well as there being two bad words on the song. Promotion for this single was good, though Melanie had to mime the track on several shows, as she had a bad throat, and the promotion was somewhat hindered by the video being banned from some TV stations due to the offensive language. The single entered the charts at #4 after being released on 27th September 1999, and spent three weeks in the Top 40. "Goin' Down" sold 92,600 copies in the UK, being the 179th best seller of 1999.
